We are looking for a dedicated and versatile Medical Assistant who is also certified in phlebotomy to join our medical team. This dual role involves both clinical and phlebotomy duties, requiring a candidate who can provide excellent patient care, support healthcare providers, and efficiently collect blood samples. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced medical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Medical Assistant Duties:
- Assist physicians and healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
- Prepare exam rooms by ensuring they are clean, stocked, and ready for use.
- Record patient medical histories, vital signs, and other pertinent information into electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Administer medications and vaccines under the direction of a physician.
- Assist with minor in-office procedures and provide wound care as needed.
- Provide patient education and instructions on medication, diet, and follow-up care.
- Coordinate patient referrals, follow-ups, and other necessary medical services.
Phlebotomist Duties:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures to collect blood specimens from patients of all ages.
- Properly label and process blood samples for laboratory analysis.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure patient and staff safety.
- Maintain phlebotomy equipment and ensure cleanliness and readiness for use.
- Communicate with patients to alleviate anxiety and provide clear instructions regarding procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of blood draws and specimen handling.
- Monitor inventory levels of phlebotomy supplies and order as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited institution preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification from a recognized program required.
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare practices.
- Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic computer software.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassionate and patient-focused, with a commitment to delivering high-quality care.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to operate medical and laboratory equipment.
