Job Description
Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist
Job Summary:
The Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist in diagnosing, treating, and preventing diseases. They will work under the supervision of a laboratory manager or medical technologist to ensure accurate and timely test results.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Collect and prepare specimens for testing
2. Perform laboratory tests, such as blood counts and urinalysis
3. Analyze test results and report findings to healthcare providers
4. Maintain laboratory equipment and records
5. Follow safety standards and procedures to prevent contamination and ensure accurate results
6. Assist in quality control and assurance procedures
7. Contribute to the development and implementation of new laboratory techniques and procedures
8. Provide training and guidance to laboratory assistants and other staff members
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate degree or bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field
2. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT)
3. Strong understanding of laboratory procedures and protocols
4. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
7. Proficiency in computer skills and laboratory information systems
8. Experience with automated laboratory equipment is preferred
