Job Summary:
We are an OB/GYN clinic seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Front Office Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a medical office setting, particularly in women’s health, and be comfortable with administrative tasks that support both patients and providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and check in patients in a friendly and professional manner
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits before appointments
- Obtain prior authorizations for procedures and medications
- Answer multi-line phone system, schedule appointments, and route calls appropriately
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
- Collect co-pays and post payments accurately
- Assist with scanning and uploading documents into the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff to support efficient patient care
- Prepare exam rooms and assist with patient intake, including vital signs and medical history
- Support providers during examinations and procedures as needed
- Administer injections and perform basic lab tests (e.g., urine pregnancy tests, swabs)
- Sterilize instruments and ensure rooms are stocked and sanitized
- Follow up with patients regarding test results, prescriptions, or instructions from providers
- Assist with specimen collection and labeling
- Monitor and restock medical supplies
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required
- 2+ years of experience in a medical front office setting, preferably in OB/GYN
- Strong knowledge of insurance verification and prior authorization processes
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficient in using EMR systems and basic computer applications
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
