POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None SUMMARY: The Medical Transportation Driver (part-time) is responsible for executing assignments pertaining to the safe, secure and timely transport of clients to and from their medical appointments as assigned by the Nutrition and Transportation Director and determined by the “Policy Regarding Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Service.” Additionally, the driver is responsible for maintaining vehicle logs, documenting any receipt of payments or contributions for clients’ transportation and reporting any observations or concerns to the Nutrition and Transportation Director when identified. EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE STANDARDS 1. Consistently demonstrates a positive work ethic and commitment to the organization, demonstrating excellent customer service and team-player qualities as evidenced by no substantiated complaints from the public, clients, and co-workers. 2. Complies with all PSR Transportation Procedures. 3. Follows assigned route sheets. 4. Completes and submits accurate and thorough daily Transportation Reports. 5. Reports vehicle maintenance issues. 6. Drives speed limit or under when conditions dictate. 7. Follows all state and federal regulations regarding operation of vehicles on roadways and private property. 8. Demonstrates ability to work independently and seeks supervisor for decision making. 9. Must comply with “Standards of Conduct” per PSR Personnel Policy & Procedure Manual. 10. Attends all fundraising and outreach activities as directed by supervisor. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Transports clients to designated medical appointments enrolled in the Medical Transportation Program. Reports updated client personal information to Nutrition and Transportation Director. 2. Transport clients, via designated routes, to and from their homes to their medical appointments. 3. Assisting clients in and out of the vehicle, out of home and into home, if necessary, checking on and engaging with clients while in and outside of vehicle, and offering assistance identified to driver from client. 4. If client requires mobility device, driver must property secure wheelchair, “rollator,” cane, and/or any and other mobility device in vehicle. 5. Regarding clients using wheelchairs, driver will properly secure wheelchair using proper procedures and equipment with tie-downs and seat belts. 6. When assigned, waits with clients during their appointments. 7. Calls clients to notify them driver is on the way to their residence. 8. Immediately reports any emergencies to 911 and to Nutrition and Transportation Director. 9. Serves as PSR emissary with clients and the public. 10. Identifies and report any client problems to the Nutrition and Transportation Director. 11. Reports vehicles maintenance issues to the Nutrition and Transportation Manager. 12. Records and submits daily Transportation Reports to Nutrition and Transportation Director. 13. Receive donations or other forms of payment clients; provides receipt; submits to Director. 14. Receives training and coaching specific to duties assigned. 15. Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE · High School Diploma or GED required. · Valid, unrestricted Virginia DMV issued license required. · DMV Driver’s Report required. · Experience with aging populations in a service delivery environment · Previous driving experience connected with human services operations preferred. MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES · Ability to communicate, as an advocate, with diverse aging populations. · Ability to empathize and relate to clients’ social and cultural needs. · Ability to comprehend and follow instructions. · Ability to follow routing directions and identify alternative routes, when required. · Ability to comprehend general knowledge of PSR programs and services. · Ability to complete required records/reports and submit reports daily. JOB CLASSIFICATION This position is a regular part-time position and is non-exempt as defined in the Personnel Policy and Procedure Manual. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger handle, feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; or smell. The employee must occasionally lift, push and adjust clients, both ambulatory and non-ambulatory. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Daily travel and vehicle maintenance is required.
