General Summary
The Member Service Representative serves as a valuable role in our branch by providing a positive first impression through friendly and courteous service, while performing efficient and accurate Credit Union transactions. Responsible for interviewing and evaluating applicants for Credit Union membership, opening new accounts and onboarding new members. Review credit reports and identify opportunities. This role functions to expand and deepen member relationships through education and promotion of beneficial Credit Union products and services in accordance with Company policy and procedures.
Essential Functions
- Greet and welcome new members to the Credit Union in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
- Provide prompt and accurate services, efficient member transactions
- Open new accounts, assist members with completing forms, properly onboard new members, and encourage them to be actively engaged in the credit union
- Review member credit report to educate them and look for opportunities to save them money.
- Identify the best financial package for the member and educate them on benefits of the plan.
- Provide insight into their financial affairs, helping members to make prudent financial decisions and build lifetime member relationships.
- Actively cross-sells USX FCU products and services.
- Receives member’s phone calls, responds to inquiries/questions appropriately and directs them to appropriate staff personnel that will meet their financial need.
- Process member transactions, including but not limited to deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, and Visa credit card payments.
- Maintain a cash drawer and ensure the cash drawer is in balance and within Credit Union limits at all times.
- Ensure that transactions are processed properly and in accordance with all applicable credit union policies and procedures, as well as all federal laws and regulations.
- Remain flexible in work assignments, which includes the availability to assist other branch locations as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in servicing and interacting with customers, along with cash handling proficiency
- High attention to detail
- Self-directed individual with well-developed interpersonal skills, effective communications skills, both written and oral, as well as time management skills.
- Ability to follow all regulations and compliance
- Working knowledge of Correlation, computer applications, to include MS-Office products.
- Experience working in a credit union or community banking environment is preferred.
