Medical Assistant in Mohs
A Mohs medical assistant in our practice supports the surgeon in the surgical removal of skin cancer using the Mohs micrographic surgery technique. This includes preparing patients, assisting during the procedure, and providing post-operative care. Responsibilities can also include tissue processing, maintaining the surgical area, and documenting patient information.
Exceptional attention to maintaining a clean and safe environment by sterilizing medical instruments, sanitizing exam rooms and work stations is essential to this position. You can plan on some administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and procedures for patients, managing necessary documents for pathology reports and communication with providers.
Once you are trained on the fundamentals of your position, you will be cross trained and learn how to scribe. This has been an exciting addition to our medical assistant duties. If you have scribing experience please let us know during your interview.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduated and received certification from an accredited educational institution or willingness to learn and demonstrate skills needed for us to apply for an RMA on your behalf
- CPR certification, or willing to complete upon hiring
- Previous experience in Dermatology is preferred, but not required
- A highly motivated and self starting team player
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- A desire to continuously learn and work well on a team
Equipment Operated: Standard medical exam/office equipment.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds of supplies and sit for long stretches of time.
Experience:
- Medical Assistant: 1 year (Preferred)
- Scribe experience or willingness to learn
- Excellent office skills using word, excel, emails and heavy phone use
- Accuracy with typing and filing
- Strong customer service skills
- Medical terminology knowledge or willingness to learn
