Job Summary:
The Mortgage Lending Compliance Assistant supports the compliance team in ensuring the company's mortgage lending operations comply with federal and state regulations across multiple jurisdictions. This role involves assisting in the development and implementation of compliance policies, conducting research on regulatory changes, maintaining documentation, and supporting audits. The Compliance Assistant will work closely with the Compliance Officer and operational departments to uphold regulatory standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in monitoring and interpreting federal and state mortgage lending regulations, including but not limited to TRID, RESPA, TILA, HMDA, ECOA, FCRA, and state-specific laws.
- Help maintain and update company compliance policies and procedures in alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Support internal audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance with lending laws and industry best practices.
- Assist in managing licensing and regulatory reporting requirements for mortgage operations across multiple states through NMLS.
- Provide administrative support for compliance training sessions on regulatory changes and fair lending practices.
- Help track and respond to consumer complaints and regulatory inquiries under the guidance of senior compliance staff.
- Support the implementation of compliance-related technology solutions to enhance regulatory adherence and reporting.
- Stay informed about industry trends and regulatory developments that may impact mortgage lending practices.
- Other duties may include some admin or accounting support.
Requirements:
- Strong organizational and research skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Mortgage Call Reporting through NMLS.
- Experience in mortgage lending compliance, regulatory affairs, or a related field.
- Understanding of federal and state mortgage lending laws and regulations.
- Accounting or bookkeeping experience
