Works with the Superintendent in implementing the Board’s adopted goals and in articulating a vision of the district’s instructional program
Collaborates with administrators to assist the Superintendent in meeting district goals and managing district operations
Attends all regular and special meetings of the Board of Education and makes reports on district programs as directed by the Superintendent
Prepares and implements policies, procedures, and practices for the Board, the staff, and the community under the direction of the Superintendent
Acts as the key spokesperson for assigned areas of responsibility including public presentations regarding district issues on various committees and special interest groups, citizen groups, and other public meetings
Attends professional meetings and conferences to stay current on research, trends, and practices
Will provide effective school leadership in creating and managing a safe, supportive and positive learning environment where all students excel; and where staff shares the vision of high performance and collaboration
Will be responsible for the improvement of instruction in the schools, helping to clarify its purposes and objectives, obtaining resources and programs to determine improvements that are needed. All decisions must be data driven and research-based
Will fairly and accurately perform comprehensive supervision and performance evaluations of professional and support staff
Full responsibility for student discipline and attendance
Will actively engage parents and community members in school programs
Must help supervise Varsity Football and Varsity Basketball games to help with the students and crowd control
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must meet all State of Michigan Administrative Certificate requirements, or be enrolled in a state-approved program within six months after date of employment
Must meet all State of Michigan Administrator Continuing Education requirements
A valid Michigan teaching certificate, and if applicable, an administrator’s certificate issued by the Michigan Department of Education
Strong curriculum knowledge, including implementing literacy and math strategies
Remain current on curriculum expectations and ensure their implementation within the classroom
Determine teaching load and assignment and assist in the recruitment, selection, and placement of teaching staff
A minimum of four years of successful teaching experience including exceptional discipline and classroom management skills
Prior experience working on school improvement teams as an effective communicator and facilitator
Is an effective team player, developing mechanisms for input into the decision making process
Has the ability to listen and evaluate the concerns of all stakeholders and act accordingly
Comfortable in the use of technology and possess the ability to learn educational software programs
