POSITION SUMMARY:
The Group Teacher is responsible for planning and executing lessons based on curriculum requirements and program learning objectives.
Through the development and execution of age-appropriate lesson plans, the Group Teacher delivers quality learning programs that supports program curriculum objectives. Lessons are taught in a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes child learning, self-awareness and growing independence. The Teacher insures each child progresses appropriately and plays an active role in enhancing each child’s individual growth and development. The Teacher provides for adequate materials for classroom instruction and prepares the support staff for assisting in learning activities. The Teacher is responsible for providing a safe environment for learning.
This position assumes responsibility for the Center as needed, in the absence of the Early Childhood Administrator, Assistant Director or the Head Teacher.
Substitute teachers who assume this role execute the appropriate lesson plan and meet the established objectives for the delivery of quality programs in a supportive and nurturing environment.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required. Early Childhood Education or related field preferred. Certification or eligibility certification of advanced standing or full certification in Preschool to 3rd grade required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year teaching experience required. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required to play a leading role as a member of the teaching team.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Potential exposure to body fluids and contagious childhood diseases within Child Care Center.
This position requires standing, sitting on floor, kneeling, crouching, running, and walking a majority of the time and ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
This position reports to the Early Childhood Administrator or the Assistant Director Pleasantville Programs. This position may also take direction from the Head Teacher.
