Job Summary
The Clinical Educator conducts a plan of educational activities to enhance, promote, and maintain the standard of care within the hospital.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks
- Assesses and identifies learning need.
- Coordinates continuous comprehensive educational activities and research for employees.
- Develops and provides educational programs to improve critical thinking and professional skills of the staff at the bedside and in the management arenas.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of actions.
- Implements financial accountability for ongoing unit-based educational activities and evaluates outcomes based on learner feedback and budgetary guidelines.
- Maintains established standards of practice, implements professional development educational training for professional growth.
- Plans and implements appropriate interventions.
- Utilizes the values and principles of The University of Texas Health Science Center to develop unit-based educational activities and evaluates the effectiveness of these activities on an ongoing basis by assessing changes in clinical performance and improved customer satisfaction.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
- Five (5) years of critical care clinical experience.
- Familiarity with the organization and functions of other disciplines within the hospital.
- Current Texas License as a Registered Nurse.
- NLS from AHA.
- May accept a combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Master’s degree in nursing.
- Two (2) years of management and/or teaching experience.
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Current Texas License as a Registered Nurse.
- Must possess and maintain current BLS certification.

- Ability to keep detailed records; to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable and/or required formats.

- Computer skills, including Microsoft office, technical drawings, cad.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
