Position Summary
Evergreen Country Day School seeks a compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented One-on-One Educational Support Assistant to provide individualized support to a neurodivergent middle school student. This role involves helping the student engage with academic, social, and daily routines in ways that reflect their strengths, preferences, and needs. The assistant will collaborate closely with the student’s teachers, family, and support team to ensure an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to the student throughout the school day to help them engage meaningfully with classroom activities, transitions, and routines.
- Use student-specific strategies from their Student Learning Plan (SLP) to co-regulate, reinforce positive behaviors, and respond supportively to moments of dysregulation.
- Assist the student in using communication tools or strategies (e.g., visual schedules, communication devices, prompts) to advocate for their needs and connect with others.
- Provide scaffolding and encouragement with classroom assignments, projects, and learning tasks as directed by teachers, ensuring accommodations and modifications are implemented appropriately.
- Partner with teachers, counselors, specialists, and family members to support the student’s goals and well-being in a coordinated, consistent manner.
- Track relevant notes on student progress, successes, and areas of challenge to inform the team’s understanding and support strategies.
- Maintain close supervision and a strong sense of emotional and physical safety for the student throughout the day, including during transitions, recess, and field trips.
- Help the student navigate peer interactions and develop social confidence, modeling and reinforcing respectful communication and inclusion.
Qualifications
Experience supporting neurodivergent children or those with learning differences is preferred. Experience in a school setting is a plus, but not required.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to move with students throughout the day, including sitting on the floor, walking across campus, and supporting physical engagement during breaks or activities
- Ability to lift or support the student physically if needed for safety
- Ability to remain responsive and attentive across a range of settings (classroom, playground, transitions)
Working Environment
- Primarily in a school setting with occasional outdoor supervision and field trips
- Occasional after-school meetings or training sessions may be required
- Training and ongoing professional development provided
