We have an opportunity for an Opthalmic Tech Lead to manage the workflow, onsite Optical Tech and coordinate patient care with our professional eye care resources at our Prado Tampa location.

Requirements:

The Opthalmic Technician Supervisor is responsible for supporting the front desk check-in/check-out activities, assisting the Optical technician in preparing patient charts and overseeing the overall patient flow. This position will also be responsible for coordinating staffing support at the Prado Tampa location.

This is a working lead role and will be responsible for performing technician and front/back-office duties in addition to leading the team. This office will require someone with experience in performing tasks at the front desk including ordering of supplies and balancing cash and credit transactions daily.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling technicians according to clinic flow including potentially filling in for technicians when the patient flow requires additional support.
  • Working with clinic team and supporting front office/back-office duties to ensure an efficient clinic workflow is maintained
  • Assigning and participating in cleaning duties, side work, and any non-workup duties as required within the clinic.
  • Ensuring all current staff is fully trained and capable of performing their job duties.
  • Auditing charts and performing time studies to ensure techs are meeting expectations.
  • Assisting in hiring team
  • Training new employees on procedure and protocol.
  • Training employees on correct EMR usage using HIPPA standards.
  • Ensuing all company and business unit-specific policies are followed.
  • Ensuring all equipment is properly maintained.
  • Educating team on proper equipment usage and maintenance.
  • Implementing continual training for team
  • Coordinating with the physicians regarding employee issues or new physician needs.
  • Resolving patient concerns, complaints or questions.
  • Maintaining certifications and working with new employees to become certified.
  • Ordering clinic supplies
  • Coordinating repairs or replacements or damaged equipment.
  • Ensuring MiPs are being met and documentation supports coding

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Position reports to Practice Manager
  • Provides lead/supervisory support to onsite team as Manager on Duty

Travel

  • This position will be required to travel to other Hillsborough County locations based on business needs. Manager on Duty assignments will be determined by Practice Manager based on business needs.
  • Employees are reimbursed for travel time and mileage based on IRS regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Certification is required. (COA, COT or equivalent)
  • Minimal of three (3) years in Ophthalmology is required.
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred
  • Previous Office Management in an Optical or Healthcare environment preferred
  • Bilingual - FLUENT (English/Spanish) - verbal and written communication
