Building and Construction Systems , a business unit of Arconic, is the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum products and systems for the commercial construction industry. Kawneer is part of Arconic’s global Building and Construction Systems (BCS) business unit, which manufactures and markets architectural systems and products in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
We have an immediate opening with our Arconic/Kawneer business for an Order Pursuit Specialist that is driven by creating design solutions for our commercial development customers. This position is based at our offices in Cranberry Twp., PA.
The successful candidate will have the ability to conceptualize building enclosures, drawing technical façade construction details, and assisting with writing and reviewing specifications, architectural/ shop drawings, testing, and construction. In addition, the candidate must have experience in the design and/or engineering of a variety of facades including window products.
- Partner closely with the commercial sales team in bid and selection process and balance the relationship between the Front-end and the Commercial Sales organization.
- Oversee design assist projects.
- Review projects to determine if the project is a good fit and that we are bidding the right customers.
- Review system performance (air, water and thermal) to correctly choose the appropriate system to be a competitive advantage and still meet specifications.
- Navigate through an entire set of bid documents and condense it down for internal use.
- Create RFI’s to resolve questions prior to beginning the estimating phase.
- Create proposal details in support of sales pursuit efforts, using depth of Kawneer drafting experience for standardization of detailing and components maintained within Kawneer custom libraries.
- Understanding architectural and structural documents is crucial to this function.
- Custom extrusion die drawings and glazing component part drawings are often created for assuring accurate quotes.
- Special circumstances have required developing unusual project condition details or mock-up drawings and/or assembly and installation instructions in support of execution of contracts.
- Working from architectural documents and using input from sales and engineering, create proposal drawings supporting bid.
- Run extrusion profile properties and create custom component drawings for pricing
- Creating custom component drawings
- Modifying standard product detailing
- Product Training for internal and external customers
- Collaborate on order pursuit strategies to increase incoming and sales volume.
- Establish and enhance order pursuit business processes.
Major customers:
- Internal Customers: Sales, Estimating, Project Management, Order Entry, Procurement, and Engineering.
- External Customers: Kawneer Customers, Architects, Vendors and General Contractors.
- An Associate degree related to business management, construction technology, architecture, mechanical engineering or Drafting Certificate from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the construction industry to include facades and building design.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of industry experience
- Understanding of architectural structures and specifications.
- Knowledge of Kawneer products and its application.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
