Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paint Shop/Yard Helper to join our team. Founded in 1969 and revitalized in 2019, St. George Steel continues to exceed our customer’s expectations as we fabricate Structures, Plate, and Vessels for buildings, ductwork, conveyors, hoppers and many more industry shaping products. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our shop operations by assisting with various tasks related to the paint shop and yard. This position requires a proactive individual who is eager to learn and contribute to a productive work environment.
Duties
- Preferred – Experience using industrial blasting or vacuuming equipment
- Use abrasive blast material to remove dirt, and other build up from steel with abrasive blasting equipment
- Correctly regulate pressure to ensure adequate and even cleaning while controlling hoses
- Load parts into blast room
- Mask specified areas requiring protection
- Load abrasive material into hopper
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, including working in confined spaces and wearing a respirator
- Must be safety oriented
- Other duties may be assigned that may specifically impact business and/or organizational needs
Skills
- Health & Safety awareness
- Must be able to lift upwards of 50 pounds frequently
- Spend extended periods of time on feet
- Stay on task and follow instructions
- Good attendance record required
- Experience with crane operation is beneficial
- Skills in fabrication techniques are desirable
- Knowledge of industrial painting processes is a plus
- Requires standing, sitting, bending, squatting and twisting
- Competency in using hand tools for various tasks

Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
