- Individualized Student Support: Provide hands-on support to children with developmental delays and disabilities, assisting with daily routines, structured activities, and social/play-based learning aligned with each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Behavioral and Emotional Support: Promote positive behaviors and support students using strategies and interventions provided by the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher and related service providers.
- Classroom Integration: Assist students in both small group and inclusive classroom settings, supporting participation, communication, motor development, and early academic skills.
- Collaboration: Partner with ECSE teachers, speech-language pathologists, occupational/physical therapists, and general education preschool staff to ensure coordinated support.
- Health and Safety: Provide physical assistance when needed, which may include toileting, feeding, and mobility support, while maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.
- Documentation and Communication: Record service minutes and observations as required. Report relevant information to the ECSE teacher and team members.
- Professional Growth: Participate in ECSE-specific training and ongoing professional development to support best practices in early childhood and special education.
- Other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent required and Associate degree or higher (preferred); or passing score on the Paraeducator assessment (within 60 days of employment)
- Experience working with young children or children with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting young learners.
- Ability to lift, assist, and physically support young children as needed.
- Willingness to be flexible and responsive to changing classroom needs.
