St. Clare’s Episcopal Church is a member parish of the Diocese of Atlanta and located in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains. Deep in the heart of the Chattahoochee National Forest and the foothills of North Georgia's Blue Ridge Mountains, Blairsville is a beautiful mountain town that is undergoing lots of change, and the makeup of our parish is indicative of that change. The communicants of St. Clare's come from all over the country - the majority live in Blairsville full time, but some are seasonal, just attending in summers. Our parish is blessed with beautiful gardens that were designed and planted by parishioners and maintained by our Garden Crew. St. Clare’s is a welcoming and inclusive church community and invests its resources in the Union County area through gifts to help those in need.

The parish administrator is an integral member of the staff leadership of St. Clare’s, is a professional position and comes with 2 weeks of paid time off, health benefits and a pension. The annual salary is $35,000, 4 days a week. Office hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday.

The parish administrator represents the church to its parish members and to the general public so must be able and willing to work pleasantly with a variety of people under pressure. Of equal importance is facility with technology. Working with the rector (head pastor) and parish volunteers, the parish administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the parish, including general office management, liturgical support, communications, scheduling, records management, and volunteer management. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated collaborative work style, a commitment to integrity and confidentiality, a love for people, the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and good interpersonal skills especially under pressure. Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills, excellent oral and written communications skills, and the ability to work independently with little supervision also are important. Given that the rector is frequently out of the office, this role requires someone who is confident in managing day-to-day operations and making independent decisions.

· Ability to work in a complex environment while maintaining a pleasant demeanor.

· Facility with technology is a must: knowledge of Excel, MSWord, Publisher or similar software, Google docs and website management (currently using Squarespace) desirable; must learn the church records system, REALM; social media skills desired

· An understanding of basic financial record-keeping

· Knowledge of the Episcopal Church or other liturgical church traditions preferred

· Appreciative of an inclusive church environment

Liturgical Preparation

· Using at template, creates service leaflets and announcements for all Sunday services, funerals, weddings and other special services

· Maintains rotation schedule for volunteer servers for Sundays and other services (currently using Ministry Scheduler Pro)

· Maintains policies and procedures for use of the building and for the scheduling of baptisms, weddings, funerals and other special events

Volunteer Management

· Supports priest in organization of Vestry (church board of directors)

· Supervises volunteer support for office activities

· Provides administrative support for other ministry chairs

Communications Management

· Maintains schedule for press announcements and distributes them to local outlets in a timely manner

· Maintains calendar and other areas on the web site

· Creates weekly e-newsletter

Records Management

· Maintains historical documents for the church

· Works with the accountant and treasurer to assure that accurate records are kept and that bills are paid weekly using REALM church software

· Supervises volunteer tellers who count money and make deposits weekly; recruits volunteers as needed

· Maintains accurate records of all parishioners in church database; provides reports upon request to the rector, vestry and to volunteers on an as-needed basis

· Provides annual reports to the Episcopal Church at the regional and international levels

· Maintains an accurate directory of parish members

General office management

· Maintains regular office hours, answers phone and email inquiries, and provides assistance to parishioners and the general public

· Manages the office in the absence of the priest

· Schedules routine maintenance of building, and schedules repairs when needed

· Maintains supplies for office and parish
