Job Summary
Catering and Banquet Servers are responsible for setting up event spaces, serving food and beverages to guests at hosted events such as weddings, conferences, member dinners, ensuring a smooth dining experience by providing excellent customer service, and maintaining cleanliness throughout the event, including clearing plates and cleaning up after guests depart.
High School Diploma - or the equivalent (for example, GED)
Banquet Serving: 3 years (Required)
Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Sanitation - Working knowledge of sanitation and have an up to date food handler certification card.
Personal Hygiene - Keeping excellent personal hygiene, with appropriate uniform of black slacks and black long sleeve button shirt, black tie, non-slip shoes, and minimal jewelry allowed. Dante Event Center will provide black apron, name tag, and Dante polo for outside events. No septum or face piercings permitted while on duty. Hair on top of the head shall be neatly groomed. Long hair shall be worn up and neatly and securely pinned. Short hair may be combed over the ears; length can be no longer than the bottom of the ear on the side and top of the shirt at the back of the neck.

Servers will be in communication with team members, supervisors, management, and any personal related to Dante Event Center, and guests. Email coorespondance for harrassment training access, Homebase app coorespondance for schedule & shift updates/conflicts. Written communication to include BEO instructions, assigned tasks, etc.
Role Relationships - To uphold a professional and presentable self while working and wearing Dante Event Center uniform. Catering and Banquet Servers will interact with team members, guests, vendors, clients, Dante Members, etc.
Responsibility for Others - Catering & Banquet Servers are required to let a supervisor know if a team member is not being safe, or risk putting themselves or others in danger while on the job. Please speak up.
Work Setting - Dante Event Center is primary location. It includes 3 event halls, 1 outside area, several storage areas, closets, hallways, bathrooms, break rooms, kitchen, and offices.
Job Hazards - Slips and trips on wet floors, burns from hot dishes and drinks, cuts from broken glassware, musculoskeletal injuries from prolonged standing and repetitive motions, heavy lifting of trays, exposure to cleaning chemicals, stress from dealing with demanding customers, and potential for violence from aggressive patrons.
Body Positioning - Shifts vary from morning, afternoon, and night. Standing for long periods of time, bending, climbing, reaching, stooping and moving quickly. Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds.
Work Attire - Black slacks, black long sleeve button shirt, plain black tie, black non-slip shoes. Dante Event Center will provide black apron, Dante polo for outside events, and name tag.
Impact of Decisions - Servers are frequently interacting with guests and clients during events. We empower our staff to make quick decisions, but every decision made can impact the experience of the guest and client.
Pace and Scheduling - 10 hour shift, 8 hour shift, Day shift, Evening shift, Night shift. Scheduling is posted for 30 days at a time, but is eligible for pop-up shifts to be scheduled, and are scheduled at the discretion of the availability of staff.
- Monitor food distribution, ensuring that meals are delivered to the correct recipients and that guidelines, such as those for special diets, are followed. This includes plated, buffet, and family style serving, and executing the correct protocol of service for each style.
- Clean or sterilize dishes, kitchen utensils, equipment.
- Examine buffet and plates to ensure that they contain required items.
- Load trays with accessories, such as eating utensils, napkins, or condiments.
- Take guest requests and relay them to banquet captain or server lead as needed.
- Stock service stations with items, such as ice, napkins, or straws.
- Remove plates, serving trays and stack dishes for return to kitchen after meals are finished.
- Prepare food items, dressings, soups, or beverages.
- Assist with food preparation/serving and ensure proper procedures are followed.
- Carry food, silverware, or linen on trays or use carts to carry trays.
- Determine where patients or patrons would like to eat their meals and help them get situated.
- Record amounts and types of special/dietary food items served to customers.
- Report to Banquet Captain or Server Lead.
- Prepare rooms for dining by setting up tables, linens, condiments, napkins, service plates, and utensils.
- Protects establishment and patron by adhering to sanitation and safety.
- Responds to additional patron requests by inquiring of needs; observing dining process.
- Keep in communication with team members and supervisors, to ensure a smooth service.
- Maintains table setting by removing courses as completed; replenishing utensils; refilling water' being alert to patron spills or other special needs.
- Maintain bathrooms during event hours. Bathrooms must be cleaned and fully stocks before and after service.
- Sweep and mop event rooms and public areas including hallways and public bar area between rooms.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
