Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll/Accounting Assistant to join our team to work Monday - Wednesday. The ideal individual will be responsible for managing payroll processes and ensuring accurate and timely compensation for several of our clients. This position will also work with an accounting manager one day to prepare various journal entries. This position requires proficiency in various payroll systems and accounting software.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and efficiently using systems, such as Paychex, Engage, or similar payroll software.
- Perform data entry tasks related to payroll, benefits administration, and accounting functions.
- Support the preparation of journal entries and general ledger accounting activities.
- Collaborate with the payroll manager to manage employee benefits and tax-related inquiries.
- Utilize financial software to generate reports and assist in budgeting processes.
- Ensure adherence to governmental accounting standards where applicable.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in payroll processing
- Basic understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliation.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry tasks
- Familiarity with technical accounting practices and general ledger reconciliation processes is advantageous.
