Friends Neighborhood Nature School is a progressive, play-based preschool grounded in the principles of nature-based and child led learning. Our program takes place largely outdoors and is designed to foster creativity, empathy and resilience through daily exploration and projects in natural environments.
We are seeking a thoughtful, experienced part-time teacher who is excited to join a collaborative teaching team and grow in the field of nature-based early childhood education. This is an ideal opportunity for a former full-time teacher looking to re-engage in a part-time capacity, while developing their skills in outdoor, child-centered learning environments. The ideal candidate will have a background in early childhood education as well as strong classroom management skills. You’ll work closely with children ages 2.5-5, supporting their social-emotional and cognitive development through hands-on, inquiry based experiences in nature. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn and contribute to our nature pedagogy and reflective teaching practices.

Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
- At least 2 years of teaching experience in a preschool or early childhood setting
- Familiarity or interest in nature-based or Reggio-inspired education
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
- Ability to meet physical demands of outdoor teaching

Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Lead Teacher and Assistant Director implement engaging nature-based lesson plans that promote early childhood education and foster a love for the outdoors.
- Manage classroom dynamics effectively, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for preschool children.
- Communicate with families about student progress and classroom activities.
- Facilitate hands-on learning experiences that encourage exploration and discovery in nature.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum development and support children's individual learning needs.
