Qualifications/Expectations:
- The candidate should demonstrate the biblical character traits and ministry skills laid out in 1 Thessalonians 2:1-12; 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4.
- The candidate should demonstrate a calling and heart for pastoral ministry, a willingness to visit the flock and provide pastoral care, personal humility to work with others, and courage to speak the word of truth.
- The candidate should be able to strategically shape the congregational culture and perform general pastoral duties such as correctly handling the word of truth in preaching and teaching, confidence in providing pastoral care and counseling, good communication skills with the teams and the congregation, discipleship and leadership development, personal evangelism, and coordination of ministry teams and efforts with the characters of God’s servant and spiritual integrity.
- As a shepherd of a Mandarin congregation in the US, the candidate should be able to preach and teach in fluent Mandarin and communicate with others in English.
- The candidate preferably is a graduate from an accredited evangelical seminary with MDiv degree or the equivalent, and preferably has a minimum of three years of full-time ministry experience in Chinese congregation, and preferably as an ordained minister.
- The candidate should be able to lead the teams in the congregation and have significant experience in the leading and coordination of small group ministries.
- North American Chinese Church pastoral ministry, church planting experience, and cross-cultural ministry experience are preferred.
- The candidate should be able to collaborate with the Lead Pastor and serve with other Pastoral Staff members.
- The candidate should have a legal working status in the US.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
1) Preaching and Teaching
- Preaching on Sundays and other occasions
- Teaching Sunday school classes
- Leading Bible study in different small groups
2) Discipleship and Leadership Development
- Training (Bible study leaders and Sunday school teachers) with an eye towards leadership development
- Discipling congregants in both individual and group settings with regard to spiritual growth
3) Caring and Visitation
- Pastoral care/counseling
- Visitation
4) Ministry and Organization
- Planning and leading the monthly TGC-Northwest Ministry Team meeting, weekly prayer meetings
- Providing general supervision to the NW Youth and Children ministries
- Performing TGC-NW administrative duties
- Collaborate with TGC Pastoral Staff and the TGC Board of Elders to seek God’s plan and guidance on adjusting vision and strategy for the church, and making major decisions that would impact church directions on ministries and budget.
- Participate in weekly Pastoral Staff meetings, monthly Elder meetings, and occasional Deacon meetings.
- Coordinate various congregational and church-wide events.
- Conduct effective and efficient meetings, and communicate clearly and effectively.
5) Evangelism and Outreach
- Collaborate with Northwest ministry leaders for outreach and evangelism strategies.
- Conducting and organizing personal and congregational evangelism
6) General Pastoral Duties
- Act as the chief shepherd for the Northwest Congregation
- Conduct weddings, funerals, baptisms, baby dedications, and communion for the Northwest Congregation as necessary.
7) Other duties as assigned

Ministry Load: 40 hours per week (some flexibility is required)
Accountability: The position is under the supervision of the Lead Pastor and is accountable to the TGC Board of Elders.
