Job Summary:
The Patient Care Specialist works under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager performing clinical duties.
Work performed involves knowledge of the basic principles and practices of nursing, and a variety of tasks in an ambulatory health care setting including:
- Assisting professional nurses in all aspects of clinical care
- Administering injections
- Performing EKG’s
- Gathering specimens
- Assisting with special procedures and general workups
- Performing other related non-professional nursing and clerical duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to utilize an electronic health record system for accomplishing daily tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, supervisors, physicians, and co-workers both orally and in writing.
- Ability to communicate professionally via telephone with pharmacies, providers, and community agencies as needed.
- Ability to effectively communicate patient needs to providers.
- Ability to handle all patient information responsibly.
- Ability to adhere to and apply all university, college, department, and clinic policies and procedures.
- Ability to behave professionally at all times and present a positive image of the facility.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly in emergency situations.
- Ability to pay attention to details.
- Ability to apply time management principles in order to accomplish assigned duties.
- Knowledge of accepted nursing/CMA standards and practices.
- Knowledge of HIPAA requirements and guidelines.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of basic pharmacology.
- Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of nursing
- Basic computer skills.
- Skilled in providing patient care in accordance with the facility’s applicable standards, policies, and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- High school graduate
- RMA, CMA (AAMA certification), or LPN
- Current CPR card

Pay: $41,975.57 - $43,966.07 per year
