Serve as the primary point of contact for incoming patients and families to an assigned Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso ambulatory clinic. Greet all internal and external guests and visitors in a timely, courteous and professional manner.
Assist patients and families with all aspects of the check-in/check-out process.
Interview patients and/or families for the purposes of obtaining demographic, financial and insurance information. Update changes accordingly to ensure accurate patient records.
Ensure the financial integrity of patient services through insurance verification and collection of copays/deductibles. Process billing information in a correct and timely manner.
Provide assistance to patients concerning (including but not limited to): the completion of required forms; understanding insurance coverage; and explaining available payment options.
Schedule new and follow-up appointments on behalf of the patient.
May occasionally register walk-in patients for Primary Care facilities.
Help coordinate patient flow as directed. Provide appropriate notification of issues that may result in service delays or denials. Handle add-ons, reschedules, and cancellations appropriately and as per department protocol.
Perform administrative tasks as needed/assigned (including but not limited to): answer phones, receive/deliver messages, triage calls, and scan documents.
Maintain the reception and waiting areas for assigned ambulatory clinic.
Ensure the confidentiality of all patients, applications, records, and information received.
May be required to provide cross-coverage for various Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso clinics across locations (Alberta, Transmountain, NE Clinic, Kenworthy, etc.) to ensure operational and staffing needs are met.
Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.).
Personally demonstrate, display and act in accordance with TTUHSC EP's Values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Serve as a Value's ambassador while actively promoting and encouraging staff across the institution.
Remains current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Travel with Neurology Team to outreach clinics in West Texas to assist Epilepsy patients 3 times per year.
Required Qualifications
A High School diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
Customer service in a healthcare setting.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Systems.
Previous experience interacting with patients.
Bilingual in Spanish.
