Payroll Specialist I

General Description of Duties:

• Performs a variety of payroll processes involved in the preparation, maintenance and processing of payroll transactions and records
• Collects, verifies, and enters timekeeping data and employee forms required for payroll processing.
• Independently and proficiently processes complete payroll cycles
• Assists in the payroll system maintenance and upkeep
• Maintains employee records related to payroll data
• Prepares monthly, quarterly and year-end payroll reports
• Assists with internal and external payroll audit preparation
• Stays educated and keeps current on all payroll compliance and regulatory standards
• Effectively communicates with internal and external payroll customers and helps resolve payroll inquiries and issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One (1) year experience working in a business office atmosphere required.
• One (1) year high volume (300 + employees) in-house payroll experience preferred
• Must have solid mathematical skills, advanced computer literacy and utilization of various Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, and general clerical duties required.
• Must have the ability to work with, and meet firm deadlines for completion of assigned duties with strong attention to detail.
• Must demonstrate strong written, verbal and organizational skills, and have the ability to effectively communicate in English, with internal and external customers of Adelante
• This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, supervisors and co-workers.

Other Requirements: Must have own reliable transportation, valid NM driver’s license, agency insurable driving record and proof of current liability insurance. Must be fully Covid vaccinated. Must be able sit, perform keyboarding functions, and utilize a calculator continually. Must be able to stand, walk, bend stoop, and reach above shoulders frequently. Paus between $18 - $21 hourly DOE

Schedule: Monday through Friday
