Job Description:

To be responsible for promoting and delivering recovery-oriented services and peer support in EPIP department. Working within a multidisciplinary team (MDT), the Peer Support Specialist collaborates with their peers to take ownership of their recovery journey through empowerment, advocacy and supporting them by working closely with the MDT members.

Key Responsibilities

1) Peer Support

  • Build safe, trusting relationships with peers based on non-judgmental active listening and appropriate sharing of lived experience.
  • Understand worldviews of peers, recognize their strengths, coping and needs.
  • Guide peers in understanding the recovery journey; stages involved, resources required, and concepts of resilience, coping, and self-care, while engendering hope.
  • Assist and enable peers in developing their own wellness plan.
  • Develop, plan and facilitate peer support groups/ group activities.

2) Advocacy

•Provide inputs (observation, comments or questions) with other multi-disciplinary team members through recognition of psychosocial needs, with recovery-oriented lens.

•Share recovery experiences in EPIP and/or IMH events.

•Network with community partners, statutory boards and hospitals on any peer support related matters

•Manage peer volunteer database and provide guidance to other peer facilitators and volunteers

•Involve in orientation on the role of PSS and EPIP recovery culture to new MDT members and/or newly posted Residents.

3) Administrative

•Ensure upkeep of records to measure key performance indicators for Peers4Rs programme

•Perform documentation or relevant administrative duties (recordings of sessions, group reports, administering evaluation ratings, proposals of peer-related events or workflow related to peer support).

4) Learning and development

•Identify learning needs and active participation in supervisions.

•Participate in PSS unit learning platform.

•Keep up with peer support movement and services outside Singapore context.

GENERAL

  • Abide IMH PSS Code of Ethics.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned. (E.g. relevant research)
