Position Summary:
At JR Metal Works, the People & Performance Lead plays a central role in shaping the success, growth, and well-being of our workforce. This position is responsible for full-cycle recruitment, hiring and terminations, employee development, training systems, and performance optimization, working hand-in-hand with the Culture Manager and company leadership. The ideal candidate is hands-on, innovative, and passionate about building a high-performing, values-driven team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consistent and innovative recruitment of tradespeople, including creative outreach strategies.
- Work closely with the Culture Manager to monitor morale and intervene when engagement trends negatively.
- Plan hiring timelines in coordination with production demands and strategic vision of the CEO.
- Oversee talent development across departments; work with supervisors to build systems and training programs.
- Build, manage, and own the Employee Success Roadmap.
- Assist in the design and rollout of performance-based pay programs in collaboration with the Controller.
- Create role descriptions and job postings based on hiring requests.
- Partner with supervisors to build out onboarding plans tailored by department and role.
- Drive the employee review and feedback process.
- Oversee all hiring and termination processes with legal and cultural alignment.
- Support struggling employees in coordination with the Culture Manager.
- Develop leadership development initiatives and succession plans.
- Annually review and update the Employee Handbook for compliance and policy relevance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Proven experience recruiting and hiring in skilled trades or manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated ability to build and implement training systems.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Comfortable with both tactical execution and strategic HR planning.
Working Conditions:
- This position occasionally operates in a professional office environment within a manufacturing facility.
- Occasional exposure to manufacturing floor conditions such as noise, dust, and machinery.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Ability to walk the manufacturing floor and attend on-site meetings as needed.
