Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Direct Care Workers to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in caregiving and demonstrate a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those they assist. This role requires a blend of practical skills and interpersonal abilities, ensuring that clients receive both physical support and emotional encouragement.
Essential Functions
- Assist clients with daily living tasks, including personal hygiene, dressing, and grooming.
- Provide companionship and engage clients in meaningful conversations and activities.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary needs and preferences.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Observe and report any changes in clients' health or behavior, ensuring proper documentation is maintained.
- Support clients with mobility and transportation needs as required.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality and rights.
- Assist with medication reminders and ensure compliance with prescribed health plans.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must successfully pass a written and oral exam.
- Must have Valid Transportation to get to and from participant’s Homes
- Final employment is conditional upon the candidate successfully completing a criminal background check, ChildLine verification, and a physical examination with TB-PPD testing, all of which are to be completed at the candidate’s expense.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proven experience in caregiving, particularly in home care settings.
- Knowledge of CPR techniques and emergency response procedures.
- Familiarity with dementia care practices and patient observation techniques.
- Strong understanding of resident rights and ethical caregiving standards.
- Cooking skills, with the ability to prepare balanced meals tailored to individual dietary restrictions.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written,
- Ability to foster positive relationships with clients and their families.
- Ability to maintain a clean environment while respecting the personal space of clients.
- Accompany clients to medical appointments and other outings, ensuring their safety and well-being outside the home
- Facilitate engagement in activities that enhance physical and emotional well-being
- Support clients with their mobility needs, aiding in transfers and ambulation
- Monitor client health and report any concerns or changes to the supervisory team
- Adhere strictly to all healthcare regulations and organizational policies
- Experience using a Hoyer Lift is a plus.
- The ability to assist with IADLs and ADLs
