Blue Bear is hiring one or two piano instructors with a background in both classical and contemporary music styles. The schedule will start with one day of teaching, mid-afternoon through evening, potentially any day Wednesday-Friday. Candidate needs to have a strong background in rock, blues, jazz, and other contemporary styles and must also have demonstrated teaching experience with adults and children. Starting pay is $41/hr. for private lessons; raises are given after the first year based on retention and number of lessons taught. Blue Bear is a nonprofit music school, a great community of amateur musician students and professional musicians with a passion for teaching. You will be treated as an employee by California law, so Blue Bear will contribute 7.5% to your Social Security/Medicare withholding as well as to unemployment insurance and workmen's comp; you will be eligible for sick pay per San Francisco PSLO. Number of hours will start low, but you must be available to build a schedule up to at least a 6-hour teaching day. The location is Inner Sunset.
