JMB74: Platform Support & Installation Engineer

Salary: £55,000 to £60,000,

Hours: 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday

Location: Office based in Redhill, with deployments of 1 to 10 days to UK customer, dockyard and naval sites

Overview

First Military Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading supplier of advanced communications, tactical intelligence and uncrewed systems to the Defence and security sectors.

They are looking for an experienced Platform Support & Installation Engineer, ideally from a Royal Navy or related background, to support complex RF and electronic systems on UK naval platforms.

The role covers installing, integrating, testing and commissioning equipment, diagnosing and repairing faults, and providing in-service support. You will also plan and coordinate deployments, deputise for the project technical lead when needed, and produce clear engineering documentation such as test procedures and fault reports.

About you

  • Defence engineering experience in a naval, maritime or military aviation environment (or similar)
  • Strong electrical and electronic knowledge, with specialist understanding of RF, radio communications, electronic surveillance or electronic warfare
  • Proven fault diagnosis, repair, test and installation experience, and confident use of RF test equipment
  • HNC, HND, degree, military technical training, apprenticeship or equivalent experience
  • Desirable: Royal Navy platform or dockyard experience, CESM/ESM/EW knowledge, Linux command-line skills
  • Full UK driving licence (Category B), UK passport and eligibility for UK security clearance (this requires UK citizenship)
  • Willing to work away from home
