About ECU Health Police

ECU Health Company Police is a corporate department that serves all ECU Health properties. As part of the professional healthcare team, the Police Departments mission is to protect and serve the patients, visitors and staff of all ECU Health entities in order to provide a high quality, cost effective and secure environment for the provision of quality patient care.

Position Summary

The Police Officer performs a complete range of law enforcement services for the ECU Police Department. Duties include patrols, criminal apprehension, preliminary and follow-up investigations, traffic enforcement, other tasks that aid in securing the hospital campus.

This position is primarily assigned to report and work at ECU Health Chowan, but may be assigned to other regions as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School plus 1 - 2 years of formal education/experience is required or higher.
  • Basic Law Enforcement Training is required.
  • Law Enforcement certification by the State of North Carolina.
  • Must maintain a valid North Carolina driver's license.
  • Minimum age of 20 years is required.
  • Selected applicants must pass complete medical examination, psychological testing, and Police applicant background investigation.
  • 1 to 3 years experience preferably in military, law enforcement, security experience / background is required.

Other Information

  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday (5:45 am - 5:45 pm)
  • Required to work rotational weekends and rotational holidays
