Provide for public safety by maintaining order, responding to emergencies, protecting people and property, enforcing motor vehicle and criminal laws, and promoting good community relations as required by TTPD Ops and/or Texas State Law
Patrol specific area on foot, on bike or in a police vehicle to observe and address violations of traffic law as required by TTPD Ops and/or Texas State Law
Investigate traffic accidents and other accidents to determine causes and to determine if a crime has been committed. Render aid to accident victims and other persons requiring first aid for physical injuries
Monitor, note, report and investigate suspicious persons and situations, safety hazards, and unusual or illegal activity as required by TTPD Ops Patrols and detects questionable patrol area. Record facts to prepare reports that document incidents and activities and/or Texas State Law
Review facts or incidents to determine if criminal act or statute violations were involved and take appropriate actions as required by TTPD Ops and/or Texas State Law
Identify, pursue and arrest suspect and perpetrators of criminal acts
Operate various investigative instrument for gathering evidence, conduct basic investigations of all crimes against person or property, develop conclusive cases, properly store and submit evidence
Testify in court to present evidence or act as witness in traffic and criminal cases
Photograph or draw diagrams of crime or accident scenes and interview principals and eyewitness
Control hostile and non-hostile crowds including but not limited to sporting events, demonstration, rallies, or scenes of various emergencies
Maintains proficiency in the use of police related equipment and weapons
Remains current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position
Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.)
Personally demonstrate, display and act in accordance with TTUHSC EP's Values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Serve as a Value's leader while actively promoting and encouraging staff across the institution
Perform all other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Fifteen semester college hours from an accredited college or university and one year experience as a Texas Tech Police Officer or two years experience as a commissioned Police Officer. Applicants must meet commissioning standards for Texas Peace Officers as mandated by the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education

Preferred Qualifications
Possession of Texas driver's license
Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local and state security operations for their protection, data, property, and institutions

Ability to react calmly in emergency situations
Ability to peak clearly and concisely and remain calm in emergency situations
Ability to make common sense decisions and use initiative in performance of duties
Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process
