Balance Autism is looking tor a Preschool Teacher to add to our team! This individual is responsible for creating a quality learning environment that engages both neurotypical and neurodivergent children in a supportive, inclusive, and safe environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Coordinate with Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) to create comprehensive curriculums to address early childhood development needs and conduct student assessments.
- Encouraging social interactions between children and improving their self-esteem.
- Engaging in creative methods of learning, such as arts and crafts, supervised play, and storytelling.
- Ensuring the classroom is a clean, safe, and organized environment.
- Preparing for lessons by gathering materials and setting up workstations.
- Communicating with parents to better understand their children's needs and personalities and provide them with up-to-date information regarding their child.
- Provide direction to Preschool Aides and Behavior Technicians.
- Work directly with each person served, demonstrating competencies in implementing individualized ABA programming and Safety Care procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Experience working with young children in a classroom setting.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Ability to communicate with young children at their level.
- Patient, compassionate attitude, with a friendly, energetic disposition.
- Good mediation and nurturing abilities.
- Creative mindset with an ability to create memorable, out-of-the-box lessons.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to serve as a positive role model.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- At least one year of early childhood teaching experience; Iowa Early Childhood Teaching License that includes pre-Kindergarten preferred.
- Driver's license and auto insurance.
- Pass motor vehicle report and criminal background checks.
PHYSICAL/WORK REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, sit and use hands.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, run or crawl.
- Must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Able to move quickly and frequently get up and down, including able to stand up from the floor quickly when necessary, without injury.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and vibration.
- Ability to work in an environment where the noise level can be loud.
