Job Description
CRB is seeking a skilled Piping Designer III to join our team and contribute to innovative, high-impact projects. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and designers to deliver coordinated, constructible, and complete piping designs. You’ll work under the guidance of a registered Mechanical Engineer and the project’s Engineer-of-Record, supporting all phases of design from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external partners to ensure seamless project execution.
- Lead piping design efforts, including early conceptual planning, utility room layouts, piping material selection, and space allocation for piping racks.
- Develop detailed design deliverables such as pipe routing plans, 3D models of piping and utility equipment, annotated piping plans, and piping details.
- Apply CRB’s VDC standards to modeling and documentation.
- Support all phases of design: feasibility, scope development, detailed design, construction documentation, and administration.
- Perform independent design work and assist with redline markups and reviews.
- Conduct field investigations and provide construction support as needed (travel <25%).
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Piping Design (Bachelor’s degree also accepted).
- At least 7 years of relevant experience, including fieldwork in design or construction.
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency in 3D modeling tools such as Revit, Plant 3D, or CADWorx (Revit preferred).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of mechanical and industry standards; knowledge of building codes is a plus.
- Experience developing mechanical utility equipment and piping designs.
- Ability to read, develop, and redline P&IDs.
- Exposure to cGMPs and experience in advanced technology sectors (e.g., biotech, pharma, food & beverage, consumer products) is preferred.
