"VAST's data management vision is the future of the market." - Forbes
VAST Data is the data platform company for the AI era. We are building the enterprise software infrastructure to capture, catalog, refine, enrich, and protect massive datasets and make them available for real-time data analysis and AI training and inference. Designed from the ground up to make AI simple to deploy and manage, VAST takes the cost and complexity out of deploying enterprise and AI infrastructure across data center, edge, and cloud.
Our success has been built through intense innovation, a customer-first mentality and a team of fearless VASTronauts who leverage their skills & experiences to make real market impact. This is an opportunity to be a key contributor at a pivotal time in our company’s growth and at a pivotal point in computing history.
VAST Data is seeking an experienced Product Manager to drive the strategy, roadmap, and process evolution for the VAST AI OS. This role is not just about shipping features—it’s about building world-class product management methodology that scales with growth. We need someone who can take thousands of enhancement requests per year and design the funnel, prioritization, and execution framework that ensures we deliver the most impactful outcomes. You’ll work across engineering, architecture, sales, marketing, and support to transform how we define, align, and scale product development. This role requires a deep technical foundation in large-scale distributed systems and an ability to translate complex architectures into actionable, customer-centric product strategies. It’s ideal for someone who has experienced both startup agility and large-enterprise rigor, and knows how to blend the best of both worlds to build a repeatable, scalable PM structure.
THE ROLE:
- Drive the definition, strategy, and roadmap for core components of the VAST AI OS, and establish and scale product management practices that enable high alignment, fast iteration, and cross-functional clarity.
- Partner closely with engineering, dev architects, sales, marketing, and support to bring visionary product capabilities to market.
- Balance technical depth with business understanding to influence roadmap priorities and trade-offs.
- Champion the voice of the customer, ensuring we solve the right problems for enterprises navigating the data explosion across on-prem and cloud environments.
- This is an ideal role for someone who has lived through (and helped lead) the transition from early-stage to scalable product cycles, and is eager to repeat and improve the process in a company building the future of data platforms.
Requirements
- 7+ years of product management experience in enterprise software, with a strong track record of driving successful product initiatives from concept to delivery.
- Deep technical understanding of distributed systems, data platforms, and storage/computing infrastructure. This includes familiarity with databases, orchestration frameworks (Kubernetes), and datacenter architectures (NVMe, RDMA, etc.).
- Proven success in a high-growth, fast-scaling environment, ideally in a company that evolved from early stage to mid/late stage.
- Demonstrated ability to drive revenue through product strategy, including aligning roadmap execution with business goals.
- Experience defining product processes and rituals (e.g., roadmap planning, PRD creation, OKRs, feedback loops) that scale with the organization.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Customer-obsessed mindset with a desire to dig deep into use cases and operational processes and turn complex challenges into elegant solutions.
- Bonus: background in data warehousing, query engines, and data integration pipelines.
