Bloomberg’s Real-Time Workflows team in News Product, Tech & Publishing is redefining how we create, manage and deliver technology-led financial news by building a modern and scalable content creation platform. We're looking for a Product Manager with platform development experience and a strong interest in news, automation, and AI to lead the evolution of the next generation system aimed at producing high-quality, automated news faster and more effectively than ever before.
What's the role?
This is a critical role at the intersection of platform thinking, editorial efficient workflows, and AI. You’ll define and drive strategy for the shared infrastructure, reusable services, and extensibility of the frameworks that underpin content automation at Bloomberg. Your work will directly impact how automated news gets created, reviewed, enriched, and managed across our global client base.
In the next 12 months, your primary focus will be to:
- Lead the strategic evolution of our Content Creation Workflows (CCW) platform moving from MVP to a fully operational, scalable system, evolving key platform components into reusable, well-documented services and APIs that support growth, integration, and long-term scale.
- Establish and align shared OKRs across News Product, Engineering, and Core organizations to ensure the platform delivers measurable business value.
- Strengthen cross-functional partnerships with product and engineering teams to ensure the platform is extensible, and well-integrated across Bloomberg’s ecosystem, while driving adoption, resolving design trade-offs, and aligning with broader strategic goals.
- Integrate AI capabilities into the platform to enable intelligent content creation workflows, ensuring AI tools are accessible, reliable, and seamlessly embedded within the platform.
You will:
- Define and execute the product vision and roadmap for the news automation content creation platform, ensuring alignment with business goals and coverage needs.
- Partner closely with Engineering, UX, Editorial, AI, and other Product teams to build powerful, reusable infrastructure that accelerates automation and experimentation.
- Shape the core capabilities of CCW: modular content assembly, publishing pipelines, data integration, and workflow orchestration.
- Champion the platform’s adoption and evolution by identifying opportunities for broader business value beyond editorial, advocating for internal users, and enabling extensibility that allows other teams to leverage its capabilities without duplicating effort.
- Serve as the primary advocate for internal platform users, driving adoption and continuous improvement.
- Establish and track clear platform success metrics that reflect real-world impact on scalability, efficiency, and content quality.
We’ll trust you to:
- Lead cross-functional efforts to deliver a content creation platform that supports complex news workflows across automation.
- Explore business value for other product groups so they can potentially leverage the platform capabilities without reinventing the wheel, while keeping News Automation as the core priority.
- Manage APIs and system interfaces that integrate with content enrichment, management, and compliance workflows.
- Prioritize work across foundational infrastructure and user-facing platform tools, balancing long-term maintainability with near-term value delivery.
- Champion platform-first thinking across the broader product organization and mentor others in reusable design and thinking.
You’ll need to have:
- 5+ years of product management experience, with significant time focused on platform, infrastructure, or developer experience products.
- Strong track record of delivering scalable internal platforms or frameworks used by multiple teams.
- Ability to translate complex technical problems into clear, outcome-focused product decisions.
- Superior communication skills to articulate value and drive the vision across a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and collaborate across organizational boundaries, including News Product, Core, Engineering, and Editorial, to deliver complex, cross-cutting solutions that will collectively enhance workflows.
Data-informed mindset: demonstrated experience with actively tracking metrics, and experimentation to guide platform evolution.
We’d love to see:
- Experience working with content pipelines, automation, NLP/AI, or editorial tools.
Familiarity with API design principles, event-driven architectures, or modular content systems.
- Passion for improving developer experience and accelerating team productivity via shared services.
- Understanding of how internal platforms contribute to external product quality and strategic differentiation.
- An interest in news and content, especially the evolution of how it’s created, automated, and consumed, and how emerging technologies like GenAI may shape the future of content creation.
