Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Production and Processing Manager to oversee all aspects of candle production at Noir Lux. This role is essential for ensuring efficient operations, maintaining high standards of quality, and managing production to meet demand for wholesale and bulk orders, retail/online orders, markets, and pop-up experiences, while safely maintaining high-quality standards.
The Production and Processing Manager will supervise a Production Assistant, seasonal support staff, and interns, while also managing the production schedule, coordinating order fulfillment, and corresponding directly with customers about production-related inquiries or concerns.
This is a hands-on leadership role that combines production expertise, team management, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in factory operations, and the ability to lead a team effectively.
Primary Responsibilities
Production Oversight
- Manage and execute all phases of candle production, including pouring, labeling, and packaging.
- Ensure consistent quality control standards for all candles.
- Develop and maintain a production schedule that aligns with sales goals and upcoming events.
- Oversee production for wholesale clients, bulk/custom orders, online shop, in-store apothecary, and markets/pop-ups.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and train a Production Assistant, interns, and seasonal staff.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and feedback to ensure efficiency and consistency.
- Foster a collaborative, positive work environment that emphasizes accountability and teamwork.
Operations + Scheduling
- Plan daily and weekly production needs in alignment with sales and events calendars.
- Coordinate support staff scheduling and coverage as needed.
- Track and manage inventory of raw materials, vessels, wicks, and fragrance oils.
- Communicate with vendors to ensure timely replenishment of supplies.
Customer Correspondence
- Respond promptly to customer emails or phone calls related to production, custom orders, or order concerns.
- Collaborate with the customer service team to resolve issues quickly and professionally.
Order Fulfillment
- Ensure all online and wholesale orders are processed and shipped within established timelines.
- Maintain organized systems for packing, shipping, and delivery.
Quality + Safety
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards for handling wax, fragrances, and equipment.
- Implement and maintain production best practices to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in production management, operations, or similar role (experience in the candle/home fragrance industry is a plus).
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to coach and motivate others.
- Excellent organizational, scheduling, and multitasking abilities.
- Familiarity with production processes, order fulfillment, and inventory management.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a professional and customer-friendly approach.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Comfort with physical aspects of production: standing for extended periods, lifting up to 25 lbs, handling raw materials.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays during peak demand.
- Reliable transportation.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 32 per week
