Job Description:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective production aligned with customer demand and quality standards. This role manages production schedules, resource allocation, and ERP system updates while coordinating across departments to drive workflow efficiency. A successful candidate demonstrates strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills to support continuous improvement, on-time delivery, and operational excellence in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee the entire production planning process, ensuring that goods are manufactured on schedule, within budget, and according to demand.
- Create detailed production schedules, manage inventory levels, coordinate with various departments, and optimize production workflows to meet production goals and targets while controlling costs.
- Monitor raw material inventory levels, ensuring adequate stock is available to meet production needs while minimizing excess inventory.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure products meet quality standards.
- Track production progress against the schedule, identifying potential bottlenecks and taking corrective actions to maintain on-time delivery.
- Allocate production resources efficiently, including labor, machinery, and materials, to optimize production output.
- Analyze production capacity and identify potential expansion needs to accommodate future demand.
- Acknowledge all new and change orders and update committed delivery dates in assigned Customer portals.
- Perform contract review on all orders prior to loading data into company’s ERP system.
- Maintain company’s ERP system with all new/change orders to company procedures.
- Works with company’s value stream manager(s) to understand delivery status on open orders and communicate as necessary to customer changes to the committed delivery schedule.
- Hold monthly orderbook reviews with all assigned customers to ensure company’s ERP system remains aligned to customer’s demand (orders and forecast).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Perform work per the assigned on site schedule.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, operations management, Logistic, Supply Chain or related field with 4 plus years of experience in manufacturing and at least 2 years as a supervisor is required.
- At least 4 years Advanced Production Planning and scheduling experience is preferred. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MRP required.
Preferred:
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to interpret data and make informed production planning decisions.
- Planning and Organizing: Ability to develop detailed production schedules and effectively manage complex workflows.
- Problem-solving: Identify and resolve production issues promptly to minimize disruptions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and effectively convey production plans.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of manufacturing processes, production equipment, and relevant software tools (ERP systems).
- Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS), ITAR / DFAR; serialization and lot tracking requirements knowledge is a plus.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate and manage production teams to achieve targets.
- APICS certification and Master Scheduling and LEAN Manufacturing experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
This position is contingent upon successfully passing Grain Craft’s background screening, physical (if applicable) and drug-screening. Grain Craft maintains that we are a drug-free company on all levels.
