Summary:
The HIP Director/SIP Project Director oversees implementation of a Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP) grant designed to enhance campus-wide High Impact Practices (HIP). Under supervision of the Associate Provost for Student Success and Undergraduate Education, this highly collaborative position directs the new Title III SIP Learning, Expanding, and Developing Enriched Support for High-Impact Practices (LEADERSHIP) program at UIS. LEADERSHIP includes four overarching strategies that involve (1) strengthening existing high-impact practices; (2) integrating high-impact practices throughout the institutional fabric of the institution; (3) shoring up academic supports; and (4) institutionalizing best practices for student success. The HIP Director/SIP Project Director is the primary coordinator and contact to oversee these goals, working campus-wide to establish and improve HIP collaborations at UIS. This is a three-year grant-funded position.

Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Directs the new LEADERSHIP program exercising authority for development and administration of policy and procedure; quarterly and annual reporting, evaluation, and assessment; and management of daily administrative matters. In charge of planning and logistics for carrying out the four overarching LEADERSHIP strategies outlined above and to (1) identify and inventory current HIPs available at UIS; (2) implement systems needed to accurately track HIP student participation, faculty integration, and outcome measurement; (3) develop and standardize HIP learning outcomes; (4) create additional HIP opportunities to engage online students; and (5) promote faculty integration of HIPs into coursework, including creation of new HIP opportunities for students (i.e., undergraduate research, internships, and capstone courses).
  • Manages recruitment, training, coordination, or other program-related work to support development, implementation, and promotion of high-impact practices across the university and to multiple levels of constituents (chairs/heads/directors, faculty, staff); and reports progress to university constituents as requested.
  • Directs and manages finances of the program. Oversees disbursements according to grant parameters.
  • Coordinates and chairs twice-monthly SIP Steering Committee meetings and coordinates the SIP evaluation team. Collaborates with the HIP Coordinator in Student Affairs; communicates regularly with key LEADERSHIP constituencies; regularly updates program progress to executive leadership in Academic Affairs and in Student Affairs.
  • Serves as primary liaison between external agencies and responsible units to ensure compliance between university and U.S. Department of Education Title III regulations; compiles report data to internal and external agencies as requested; and serves as the primary point of contact for the SIP grant and the LEADERSHIP program.
  • Maintains current knowledge of developments and best practices in HIPs, evaluation and learning outcomes assessments, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree.
2. A total of three (3) years (36 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position (Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.).
3. Based on position requirements, additional education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required.


Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited university
Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of successful finance and project management
Experience working with Title III Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP) or similar grants in size and scope
