We are building an innovative, collaborative team who will help shape the future of care at Med Center Health. The Programmer role will be part of the Third Party & Legacy Support Team, responsible for maintaining current systems while supporting integration, data migration, and vendor coordination during the transition to Epic.
Position Summary
The Programmer will design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot applications, interfaces, and scripts that bridge Med Center Health’s legacy systems with Epic and other third-party applications. This role will play a critical part in ensuring data integrity, system stability, and seamless interoperability during the Epic implementation and legacy system transition.’s Epic electronic health record (EHR) system. Working closely with analysts and stakeholders, this role translates requirements into efficient, secure, and reliable solutions that improve workflows, support clinical and operational goals, and ensure seamless data exchange.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops, maintains, and supports custom applications, scripts, and interfaces for legacy and third-party systems during Epic implementation.
- Collaborates with the Third Party & Legacy Support Team to extract, transform, and load data into Epic.
- Ensures compliance with interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, APIs) in all programming and integration work.
- Partners with Epic analysts, IT staff, and vendors to test and validate data flows between systems.
- Troubleshoots and resolves programming issues related to legacy system integrations and third-party applications.
- Assists in developing archival, read-only, and decommissioning solutions for legacy systems.
- Documents all programming solutions, workflows, and technical procedures in a clear and consistent manner.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of programming experience in application development or systems integration required; experience in healthcare IT preferred.
