SUMMARY OF POSITION
ARRC is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee stream, wetland, and floodplain restoration projects from planning through project closeout. This role involves managing field construction crews, coordinating with engineers and environmental specialists, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering high-quality ecological restoration projects on time and within budget. Ideal candidates will have experience in environmental construction, strong leadership skills, and a solid understanding of aquatic resource restoration principles.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Effectively manages and leads Construction Project Engineers
- Negotiates and purchases materials, services and subcontracts for assigned projects
- Coordinates with Construction Superintendent to ensure projects are manned and meet schedules/budgets
- Approves and forwards submittals for any drawings and material samples according to schedule
- Conducts project start-up and ongoing project conference meetings; prepares written minutes
- Works with vendors, estimators, and on-site supervisors to complete projects timely and profitably
- Revises budget reports to reflect actual prices when contracts or commitments are received
- Sends subcontracts or purchase orders to appropriate subcontractors/vendors to establish price for goods and services
- Establishes construction schedule with assistance of Construction Project Engineers, Estimator and Superintendent
- Reviews project budget with Estimator, Project Engineers, and Superintendent
- Notifies, coordinates and schedules subcontractor and materials
- Works with Project Engineers and Superintendents to review job progress and cost reports regularly
- Assists and advises Project Engineers and Superintendent on meeting job specifications and meeting schedules
- Provides information from project estimate to Field Supervisor to properly manage project within budget
- Monitors daily, weekly and monthly project costs prepared by Construction Project Engineer and Project Accountant, and report inconsistencies to management
- Prepares all change order requests for client’s approval
- Coordinates with Estimator on the estimation of all change orders
- Documents all field directives from owner or engineer that change scope or design of contract documents
- Processes and coordinates changes in project such as design changes, lost days, scope, alternate methods of construction and keep all necessary parties informed of changes
- Conducts punch list walk-through with owner, engineer and major subcontractors
- Conducts job summary meetings with project team at completion of project to discuss performance of subcontractors, analyze budget, schedule, estimate, and discuss any open items for close-out
- Meets with subcontractors to review job progress and implement plans to meet schedules
- Manages quality control including pre-construction meetings, initial inspections, field tests, commissioning, and final site inspections
- Manages and resolves conflicts and problems
- Originates and/or reviews, submits, logs and distributes RFI’s and responses
REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years of project management experience preferred or working in project management teams
- Environmental, construction management degree or background with demonstrated field experience is preferred
- Experience and knowledge of stream, wetland & floodplain restoration work is required
