Compensation: $90,000 – $130,000 (depending on experience)

Job Summary:
CMT is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead materials testing and inspection projects in Texas. This role will oversee project planning, budgeting, personnel allocation, client relations, and technical quality across civil and structural scopes. Familiarity with TxDOT standards, Texas construction codes, and regional testing protocols is highly preferred.
Responsibilities:
Manage and track project budgets, schedules, and staffing needs
Prepare and submit project proposals, cost estimates, and bid packages
Review field and lab reports for technical accuracy and compliance with standards
Provide leadership and mentorship to field technicians and inspectors
Conduct safety meetings, technical training, and performance evaluations
Ensure all work aligns with company SOPs and applicable regulations (e.g., TxDOT, AASHTO, ASTM)
Serve as a primary liaison with clients, resolving technical and operational issues
Support business development by maintaining relationships and identifying new opportunities
Coordinate with local regulatory agencies and maintain awareness of Texas-specific construction practices
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred
5+ years of project management and team leadership in construction or engineering services
Strong understanding of materials testing procedures (concrete, soil, asphalt, aggregates)
Familiarity with TxDOT specifications and regional inspection standards
Valid Texas driver's license with clean MVR
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Preferred Certifications:
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
NICET or HMAC Level 1/2 (TxDOT preferred)
ICC certifications in Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, or Structural Steel
WAQTC certifications (if previously obtained, may transfer for reference)
TxAPA training or similar regional coursework a plus
Key Metrics for Success:
Client satisfaction and retention
Proposal win rate and new client development
Accuracy and turnaround time on technical deliverables
Billable utilization rate (minimum 70%)
Team performance and compliance through observations and reviews
