Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the assigned project team through the full life cycle of each project: setup; planning; engineering; procurement; production; testing and qualification; programming; customer runoff and factory acceptance testing; system teardown; on-site installation; on-site runoff and acceptance testing; ongoing site support; and customer training
  • Translate each project’s technical and business requirements into an understandable and achievable work breakdown structure In consultation with resource managers, establish a detailed project budget/schedule and maintain that budget/schedule daily as a tool for achieving on-budget/on-time project performance
  • Manage the project’s scope carefully to avoid scope creep, unmet requirements, unnecessary costs and risks, and schedule delays
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the customer, maintaining high levels of communication and respect, and managing expectations
  • Establish and maintain a firm but fair change management expectation with the customer, balancing business financial needs with customer satisfaction
  • Maintain constant awareness of each project team member’s progress on their assignments, knowing when to dive deeper if something is in trouble and knowing when to stay out of the way
  • Research and create estimates for potential projects as part of the new-business quoting process
  • Anticipate and proactively resolve scope, schedule, budget, and resource issues to ensure project success

  • Prepare for and attend regular company meetings and management meetings
  • Assist with company initiatives like process improvements, documentation, and the resolution of chronic issues

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and organizational skills
  • Relevant experience as a project manager in a matrix organization, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to drive projects to a successful closure
  • Ability to negotiate and manage contractual arrangements
  • Ability to understand system layouts and technical manuals
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor under stressful situations
  • Able to work flexible hours as needed, including occasional travel
