Purchasing Coordinator – Supply Chain

Scope: This individual will be responsible for driving cost out initiatives, oversight of procurement process, supporting contract negotiations and commodity strategies. Purchasing coordinator responsibilities will include oversight of work instructions and training materials for all purchasing-related activities, supporting special projects as needed. This position will provide a wide range of exposure and experience across the business enterprise.
Essential Job Functions:
• Lead Buyer for assembly components and Central oversight to regional Buyers, Materials Supervisors and Purchasing Agents of assigned commodities
• Provide input, negotiating and support of strategic commodity and supply categories
• Supporting, establishing, and maintaining procedural discipline for commercial engagement with suppliers; including selection, quoting, bidding and awarding business to direct and indirect products and services
• Developing and proposing contracts for purchase
• Evaluating quality, price, reliability, technical support and availability of goods and services
• Performing supplier research and selection to enhance profitability, reducing operating costs and boosting efficiency
• Maintaining cordial working relationships with suppliers and supervising supplier activities
• Signing and reviewing purchasing agreements with suppliers, monitoring their performance and renegotiating contracts according to delegation of authority procedures
• Using quarterly and annual data to determine purchasing needs and performing inventory management
• Managing purchase orders, overseeing shipping schedules and maintaining purchase records
• Working with warehouse staff to compare deliveries with purchase orders to identify discrepancies
• Conducting ongoing market research to identify beneficial purchase agreements and potential suppliers
Requirements
ssential Qualifications, Education and Experience:
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.
• Minimum High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an operations or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Able to travel as necessary to support execution of the project assignment.
• Direct experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word).
• Willingness to learn how to use new ERP software and tools to support the business.
• Interpersonal skills such as teamwork and good listening skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates strong time management and organizational skills.
• Strong Negotiation skills
