About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Purchasing Manager to lead procurement operations and ensure the timely availability of materials, services, equipment, and project-related requirements while optimizing cost, quality, and supplier performance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, leading procurement teams, and driving continuous improvements across purchasing operations to support business growth and operational efficiency within a dynamic engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the purchasing function and ensure the timely procurement of materials, equipment, services, and project requirements.
• Develop procurement strategies aligned with operational, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure continuity of supply and service excellence.
• Coordinate closely with project, engineering, technical, stores, finance, and operational teams.
• Establish, monitor, and improve procurement KPIs and purchasing performance metrics.
• Prepare purchasing plans based on approved operational and project requirements.
• Review purchase requisitions for specifications, quantities, delivery schedules, and approvals.
• Obtain quotations, conduct supplier evaluations, and negotiate pricing and commercial terms.
• Manage purchase order issuance, supplier communication, and delivery follow-ups.
• Monitor supplier performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, supplier risks, and supply chain developments.
• Maintain approved supplier databases and conduct performance reviews.
• Identify alternative sourcing opportunities to improve cost efficiency and mitigate operational risks.
• Prepare procurement reports, cost-saving analyses, and supplier performance evaluations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop purchasing team members to achieve departmental objectives.

Requirements

• Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Management, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Professional qualification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage.
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in procurement or purchasing functions, preferably within an engineering environment.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a managerial or senior supervisory capacity.
• Strong experience in supplier relationship management and strategic sourcing.
• Proven negotiation and commercial management skills.
• Experience in quotation evaluation, procurement planning, and cost analysis.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement management tools.
• Knowledge of import procedures, logistics operations, and supplier management practices.
• Strong analytical, reporting, and decision-making capabilities.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
