Quality Engineer

Up to £65k

Full-Time | Permanent

Quality Engineering. Product Engineering. Continuous Improvement.

Pearson Whiffin Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Quality Engineer to join a high-performing engineering and technology environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in Quality Engineering and Product Engineering who enjoys working across continuous improvement, product development, quality systems, supplier quality and problem-solving.

The role will support the delivery of a strategic quality roadmap, helping to drive robust processes, improve product performance and support operational excellence across engineering and technology functions.

The Role

Working as part of the Quality function, you'll support a range of continuous improvement and quality initiatives across engineering, product development and operational activity.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting continuous improvement activity across key quality workstreams
  • Supporting and developing the Quality Management System
  • Assisting with audits and quality-related training
  • Supporting Product Development and Product Life Cycle activity
  • Working closely with engineering teams to improve product and process robustness
  • Supporting the management and improvement of standard operating procedures
  • Supporting containment actions and resolutions relating to product or operational issues
  • Processing and reviewing quality inputs and outputs following operational events
  • Supporting issue control and product quality activity
  • Maintaining and analysing engineering and quality KPIs
  • Using data to identify trends and drive proactive corrective action
  • Supporting supplier quality assurance activity
  • Working with suppliers to resolve quality issues while maintaining constructive working relationships
  • Supporting risk management and appropriate mitigation activity
  • Carrying out structured audits against defined processes and procedures
  • Identifying weaknesses, risks and opportunities for improvement
  • Supporting robust problem-solving using appropriate quality tools and techniques

What We're Looking For

  • Previous Quality Engineering experience
  • Strong Product Engineering knowledge
  • Experience working within an engineering, manufacturing, automotive, motorsport or similarly technical environment
  • Strong understanding of engineering processes supporting product development
  • Good problem-solving capability
  • Ability to use structured tools and techniques to identify root causes and implement solutions
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets
  • Understanding of risk management and mitigation
  • Experience supporting or working with a Quality Management System
  • Experience carrying out audits
  • Supplier quality management experience
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and process
  • Proactive and highly motivated approach
  • Ability to adapt within a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Reliable, organised and comfortable taking ownership of tasks

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate both Product Engineering and Quality Engineering knowledge.

Systems & Technical Skills

Experience using the following would be highly advantageous:

  • Microsoft Office
  • Visio
  • Power BI
  • Jira
  • Confluence
  • SharePoint
  • Database and issue-tracking systems
  • Data analysis and reporting tools

Awareness of Microsoft Project would also be beneficial.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A background in Quality Engineering and/or Product Engineering is essential
  • A BEng would be advantageous
  • Alternatively, around 5 years' experience within Product and/or Quality Engineering would be beneficial
  • A current UK driving licence is required
  • Previous motorsport engineering or motorsport operational experience would be highly desirable
