Position Summary:
The role of the Quality/Trainer is to train, coach, and mentor new employees on how to perform all basic job functions, proper set up of workstation and other key components of the packer position. In addition, this individual will serve as the subject matter expert on proper quality guidelines, training and coaching all employees to ensure the finished product meets client and Edge Plastics specifications.
Job Responsibilities:

- Responsible for training new hire employees on all basic job functions and the life cycle of the product. Basic training should include but not limited to:
- Utilization of spec sheets
- How to utilize tools provided (gate gutters, swivel knives, tape dispenser, etc.)
- How to identify quality concerns and how to remedy-trimming, pulling shorts, etc.
- Proper labeling of products and boxes, how to make boxes, how to properly tape boxes, where extra inventory is located.
- Proper set up of workstation to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity.
- Most efficient way to clear lines/time management tricks
- How to palletize
- Proper lifting techniques
- Responsible for completing training documentation for all presses and palletization standards for employee training file.
- Responsible for educating and informing all packers of quality alerts/concerns.
- Ensures packers complete quality audits and performs random quality audits on packed goods.
- Communicates quality standards or client specific standards to Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor when new or changed standards occur.
- Audits packer labeling to ensure proper inventory record keeping and palletization occurs.
- Creates labels using IQMS system ensuring proper SKU and other details are properly captured
- Visually inspects completed product for correctness in accordance with quality expectations for that specific product (color, bubbles, label correctness-both accuracy and positioning) and other quality/product specifications.
- Identifies quality violations or training concerns and creates a plan for resolution.
- Moves product using hand pallet jack and visually inspect for functionality and broken items.
- Perform housekeeping duties for workstations.
- Perform all duties as directed/assigned by Training Supervisor, Supervisor, Assistant Plant Manager, Plant Manager or Human Resource leadership.
- Performs packer duties as needed due to business needs.
- Comply with all safety rules, OSHA guidelines, GMP and PEE guidelines as well as any departmental/line specific work instructions and protocol.
- Comply with The Employee Handbook and all other Edge Plastics policies and protocols.
Education and Experience
- Two (2) years of proven manufacturing experience,
- Minimum of One (1) year recent/consistent Quality or Training experience in a manufacturing facility
- High school diploma or equivalent education preferred but not required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
The Quality/Trainer must have the following abilities:
- Ability to communicate in professional tone and manner in both verbal and written means
- Ability to Identify quality violations or training concerns and formulate a plan for resolution.
- Ability to stand, bend, stretch, walk for continuous twelve (12) hours
- Ability to lift 37-50 lbs lifting above head
- Must be able to handle count via visual inspection
- Read and comprehend written instructions and ensure instructions are met and achieved upon review of completed product. Must be able to properly record quality related concerns as they arise.
- Ability to update leadership team in group and one and one conversations.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to work in a group setting or individual
- Ability to multi-task with a high sense of urgency
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with supporting departments.
