Located in Danville, KY, the historic, picturesque 150-acre campus is 30 miles from Lexington, in the famed Bluegrass Region of Central Kentucky.
Essential duties and responsibilities of the position include:
- Coordinating with faculty and staff to provide course-based and individual reference and library instruction sessions in support of patron research needs and the curriculum of the college;
- Working with patrons (students, faculty, staff) in a variety of public service, individual, and electronic settings to support information seeking, provide research assistance, and deliver instruction around library resources and services;
- Implementing and maintaining a program of library assessment that utilizes professional standards (including the AAC&U Information Literacy VALUE Rubric and the ACRL Information Literacy Framework) for all activities around library instruction and information literacy;
- Working closely with the Director of Library Services to develop and implement assessment measures around other library data points;
- Working with appropriate college stakeholders to develop and implement relevant and responsive information literacy outreach and education across the institution;
- Working closely with Director of Library Services, Head of Collection Development, and other campus stakeholders in the area of collection development, assisting in the selection of appropriate print and electronic resources that support the educational mission of the library and the curriculum of the college;
- Librarians at Centre College typically assume primary responsibility for coordinating some area of activity, such as scholarly communications, reference desk, instruction, or social media; what that area will be for this position will be a subject for discussion, and training will be provided, as needed;
- Demonstrate an appreciation for and sensitivity to an inclusive academic community, fostering a welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff from all social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Library Services.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in library science or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program required.
- 5-7 years of prior experience in an academic library setting, preferred;
- Experience with academic program/outcome evaluation;
- Knowledge of/experience with both qualitative and quantitative data gathering and analysis;
- Comfortable working with a variety of social media platforms
Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of information literacy theory, standards, and best practices.
- Working knowledge of a range of library databases and electronic resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a demonstrated proficiency in working collaboratively with a range of diverse stakeholders;
- Exceptional organizational abilities;
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes both occasional weekends and one evening shift a week.
Physical Requirements
- Limited pushing, pulling, lifting.
- Lifting would not exceed 20 lbs.
- Mobility on campus necessary.
