At UConn Health, the Spellman Laboratory in the Neuroscience Department is looking to hire a Research Technician to assist in ongoing projects relevant to cognition research.Our work focuses on finding cell types and neural circuits that drive processes like attention, dynamic decision-making, working memory, and abstract or contextual learning.

SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, Mon - Fri, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with a 30 minte unpaid mealbreak
EXAMPLE OFDUTIES:
- Ordering lab supplies and keeping the lab stocked
- Maintaining genetic mouse lines (genotyping, crossing, etc)
- Carrying out rodent behavioral experiments
- Rodent stereotaxic surgeries
- Performing 2-photon in vivo imaging
- Analysis of behavioral and neural data.

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
High School diploma or equivalent.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbents in this class may be required to undergo periodic tests or immunizations for communicable diseases. Person uncomfortable with mice or blood work should avoid applying.
Applicants must have at least 12 months full-time experience working in rodent research.
Applicants must have experience performing rodent survival surgeries, cryosectioning, histology, 2-photon microscopy, and conducting rodent cognition and behavioral testing.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Incumbents in this class may be occasionally required to lift heavy objects such as standard laboratory equipment and/or trays/boxes or glassware; may be exposed to such hazards as broken glass, toxic vapor radioactive materials, and toxic or disease carrying substances.
