Job Summary:
The VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS) is seeking Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs) with Polysomnography capabilities to support the Medical Service – Respiratory Section. This is a temporary, full-time opportunity for up to four (4) experienced and credentialed professionals who can work flexible 8-hour shifts. Candidates with prior VA experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality respiratory care and polysomnographic studies
- Administer diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to patients with respiratory and sleep disorders
- Interpret sleep study results and collaborate with medical staff for treatment plans
- Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care
- Adhere to all infection control, safety, and regulatory protocols
- Document patient data in EMRs accurately and in a timely manner
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy (RT) program
- Completion of an accredited Sleep Program for Polysomnography
Experience:
- Respiratory Therapy: Minimum of 2 years experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including 1 year in Critical Care
- Polysomnography: Minimum of 2 years of experience conducting sleep studies
Certifications:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) – BRPT or
- Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) – AASM
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association preferred
Licensure:
- Valid and current license with the Respiratory Care Board of California
- Primary source verification required (via DCA license search)
Additional Requirements:
- Candidate will be screened against the OIG Exclusion List
- Strong documentation and time management skills
- Prior VA experience preferred
- Must be prepared to submit a complete candidate package (resume, license, certifications, etc.)
