Position: Roadway Testing Technician
Department: CMT
Reports to: Field Services Manager
Pay Range: $30 - $45 per hour based on applicable certifications, skills, and experience
POSITION SUMMARY
2MNEXT is seeking a certified and detail-oriented Roadway Testing Technician to join our Construction Materials Testing (CMT) team. In this role, you will perform quality assurance testing and inspections for roadway projects, ensuring materials and construction processes meet GDOT and project specifications. This is a field-based role that contributes directly to critical transportation infrastructure throughout Georgia. Candidates must hold a current GDOT RTT certification along with GDOT QCT, WECS, and GSWCC Level 1A certifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Performing field density testing of soil, aggregate base, and asphalt using nuclear gauge methods per GDOT and AASHTO/ASTM standards
Performing proof rolls, subgrade verification, and sampling of construction materials
Reviewing project plans and specifications to prepare for daily field assignments
Documenting test results, inspections, and observations using company reporting systems (e.g., E-Field Data)
Interfacing with contractors, engineers, and project managers to communicate results and resolve field issues
Ensuring all fieldwork complies with safety protocols and applicable codes
Maintaining and calibrating field equipment
Supporting additional CMT testing activities and assisting other technicians as needed
Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, notwithstanding work in other functional areas to cover absences and relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise to balance the workload.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
High School Diploma or GED required
GDOT Roadway Testing Technician (RTT) certification required
GDOT Quality Control Technician (QCT) certification required
WECS certification and GSWCC Level 1A certification required
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in roadway or field materials testing
Ability to read and interpret technical plans and specifications
Ability to write clear, professional daily field reports
Ability to routinely lift 50 lbs. and work in outdoor environments, including inclement weather
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience using E-Field Data or similar field reporting platforms
Airport paving or advanced density testing experience
Additional certifications (NICET, ACI, etc.) a plus
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Field-based role with exposure to outdoor conditions, construction sites, and varying terrain
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
Ability to climb, bend, stoop, and walk on uneven surfaces
Visual/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written/verbal communication
