Job Description
Summary:
The Sales Manager will be responsible for the sales success of the dealership by effectively managing the staff, planning and developing short and long term goals, and meeting the objectives set by upper management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Make a monthly projection of the vehicle requirements by department for the immediate 90-day sales period.
- Determine monthly and yearly forecasts in terms of unit sales, gross profit objectives, and departmental profits.
- Forecast monthly with each salesperson to establish objectives in terms of the number and type of customers coming into the dealership, closing percentages in each category, time utilization, prospecting efforts, unit sales, and projected income.
- Recommend procedures for short-and long-range advertising, sales promotions, staffing needs, lease promotions, compensation plans, customer complaints, salespersons’ evaluations, and car rentals.
- Meet with each salesperson to conduct sales meetings to review results and today’s plan of action.
- Provide on the job training for salespeople, review monthly commission sheets, productivity reports, salespersons’ monthly forecast, and profit performance with the Dealer by salesperson and as a department.
- Maintain a balanced vehicle inventory and establish a program for moving inventory.
Qualifications
Preferred:
- At least 2 - 4 years of Automotive Sales Manager experience.
- Honda (or multi-brand) experience a plus.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to drive sales and profit, and lead your team to success.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
- Previous experience in working the Sales Manager desk.
Required:
- All applicants must be authorized to work in the USA
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Must be legally and technically able to safely operate Company and customer-owned vehicles.
- Must be insurable by Company insurance carrier.
- All applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, MVR, drug test, credit report, and valid driver license.

(The Sales Manager Position has a Pay Scale consisting of the following elements and ranges. Wages include a monthly draw and/or salary. The position may also pay commission compensation which is based on the value or amount of closed sales achieved from $0.00 (if no sales are made) without any upper limit other than sales performance. The position also may also pay a production bonus based on individual or team performance that may range from $0.00 (if baseline benchmarks are not met) without any fixed upper limit .)
